The three track EP, Encre à Kora, is Yann Encre’s first appearance on intr-version. Departing from his previous body of work which sets fiercely whispered text againt skittish, frantic orchestral backdrops, Encre à Kora puts the eponymous Western African instrument at the centre of a seething mass of guitar, strings, and woodwinds. The most obvious points of musical overlap might include the New York minimalists (Steve Reich, Terry Riley, Lamonte Young, et al shredded by microprocessors) or The Books (but with a dark, throbbing, libidinal energy), but, Encre is in a world all his own.
