o.lamm is one of these artists who like to think that they do pop music, but prefer to use the mouse of their computer than to use the strings on their guitar to illustrate their sensibility. But o.lamm is an artist above all – and the medium he uses simply cannot explain the singularity of his music, because we're far from any predetermined aesthetic or from any inappropriate fetishism (let's leave that to guitar virtuosi). o.lamm generates sounds from nothing as much as he kneads natural sounds through the technological prism, and his prime purpose is simply to put his idealised form of pop music into concrete form. Meaning, a form of pop music which would be as sonically adventurous as it is immediately accessible. 'snow party' is built with digital material, incidents, field recordings, hyperactive collages of various textures and of fragments of acoustic instruments, but also real-time piano and guitar parts, played then mutated with digital technology, all assembled with no preconceived view whatsoever of how it should be done to fit into a genre or follow a heavy and irksome concept.
