French three-piece formed in 2005 by Julien Chevalier, Benoît Lauby and Paul Loiseau, La Terre Tremble!!! confronts genres and challenges rock critics to find new cheesy names such as handcrafted seismic folk-rock, shaky cubist pop, electric tribalism with baroque opera lyricism... In fact, everything the band does come from pop music. But the songwriting formulas are beat to the ground and torn apart in a kind of Borges-like labyrinth, a desert of mixed feelings and chiaroscuro.
The band's ability to digest so many musical influences, transforming a plentiful and heterogeneous amount of ideas into a raw and direct delivery, comes from a long tradition of musical endeavors from The Beatles to This Heat, The Pretty Things to Gastr Del Sol, Os Mutantes to Einstürzende Neubauten, David Crosby to Coil, Sparks to Red Krayola, Charles Ives to The Beach Boys, and many others...
Considering the recording studio like a playground for three mad scientists, the band's live performances are a swampy sonic experience, elaborate and yet unpredictable. Using two or three (electric and acoustic) guitars from powerful chords to heartfelt arpeggios, pairing and eventually destroying each other, three vocals ranging from rested harmony to frenetic tension, not to forget primitive percussion, acoustic and electronic, dry or wet.
Their brand-new album «TRAVAIL» is released on Collectif Effervescence fall 2009. Co-produced, recorded and mixed by Miguel Constantino (Papier Tigre, Audiopixel, Passe Montagne, Centenaire, Collectif Effervescence co-producer) and mastered by Jeremy Lemos (Smog, Jim O'Rourke, Stereolab, Us Maple, Loose Fur...)

Trio rennais, originaire de Clermont-Ferrand, formé en 2005 et composé de Julien Chevalier, Benoît Lauby et Paul Loiseau, La Terre Tremble!!! aime confronter les genres. On pourrait qualifier leur musique de folk-rock artisanal, sismique, pop bancale et cubiste, tribalisme électrique, lyrisme d'opéra baroque... ou tout simplement de «variété»!

Le songwriting populaire y est passé à la moulinette et laisse place à un univers (dé)construit à la manière d'un labyrinthe à la Borgès, d'un désert de chaud-froid et de clair-obscur.

Le groupe se considère comme un tube digestif musical : il n'aurait fait que transformer une matière première abondante et hétérogène pour la livrer de la manière la plus brute possible. Cela viendrait peut-être d'une tradition héritée (en pêle-mêle) des Beatles à This Heat, des Pretty Things à Gastr Del Sol, d'Os Mutantes à Einstürzende Neubauten, de David Crosby à Coil, de Sparks à Red Krayola, de Charles Ives au Beach Boys, et bien d'autres… et encore...

La Terre Tremble !!! se fait remarquer par son inventivité, le groupe est programmé en France avec entre autres David Grubbs, No Neck-Blues Band, Health, Themselves, et participe en 2007 au festival allemand "Avantgarde Schiphorst" or­ganisé par le groupe krautrock mythique Faust !


Si le studio est un fabuleux laboratoire artisanal pour LTT!!!, la scène elle, est un véritable chantier sonore et marécageux. La tectonique des plaques est ici imprévisible, use de craquements répétés, de deux à trois guitares (électriques ou acoustiques) qui se chassent, tricotent dans leur coin pour s'accoupler ou se détruire. Trois chants qui sautent d'une harmonie au repos à la crispation frénétique. Une rythmique à la fois primitive, acoustique et électronique, étouffée ou cinglante.
